I exited but I don't see my funds

Exiting a validator is not instant: if you have exited the network and you haven't yet received your funds straight away, don't panic.

To double-check the on-chain status of your validator, find your validator index from the Staking app and head to the beaconcha.in validators page. At the top of the page you'll see the progress bar where the status of the validator is shown. Mouse over the number in between "Active" and "Exited" to see the epoch and time and date after which your funds should be withdrawable.

Receiving your deposit after exiting the network takes time because there is a continual withdrawal queue that includes both full (i.e. a 32 ETH deposit) and partial withdrawals. The protocol continually cycles through all validators to check whether:

  • The validator has requested to exit the network, or;
  • The validator's balance is more than 32 ETH.

In either case, a withdrawal is necessary, and is added to the withdrawal queue. Exits are treated the same as partial (rewards) withdrawals, and not prioritized.

A maximum of 16 withdrawals can be included in any single block, and blocks are confirmed every 12 seconds — so the expected time of your withdrawal is a function of how many other withdrawals are in the queue. Data at validatorqueue.com provides an estimate of how long your exit will take.
